Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID)
I have been in AVID for four years now. We learn to get along with those who we may not necessarily get along with and behave as a family. Before AVID, I didn't even consider college as an option because my family couldn't afford it, but it taught me that I can go to college no matter my financial struggles because there are plenty of scholarships out there and that college is definitely for me. Besides the Cornell Notes, TRF, College Applications, etc... we go on college trips and have fun together.

Anime Club
In Anime Club we met every Thursday and discussed our favorite anime shows and movies and then watch them for a couple of hours. We also fundraised HI-CHEW candy to buy more anime books for the library.
FBLA
FBLA stands for Future Business Leaders of America and even though I want to become a nurse, I thought it would be fun to join and I was right. We do projects that benefit both the community and us such as the Go Green Project. FBLA constantly studies the subject they will be competing in. My subject was Accounting 1 and 2 since I was already taking these classes with Mr. Caballero and she made the club all the more fun.

Track and Field
Never in my life did I ever think I was athletic. I tried everything from Soccer to golf and I didn't do so well, so I gave up. However, a runner convinced a couple of my friends to join track and they convinced me. It was my very first year, so I wasn't very good. Mr. Lopez, my coach, saw potential and believed in me and he pushed me and pushed me until I could finally keep up with everyone else. By the end of the track season, my coach gave me no choice but to join Cross Country the following year because he had figured out that I was better at running long distance than short distance. Once the Cross Country season began, I fell in love with running.

Cross Country
I have been involved in Cross Country for two years now, going onto my third. I have received the Most Valuable Runner award for being the cheerleader in my team and trying to improve my time within each practice and each meet. My determination to get better throughout the season was my motivation to keep on running. Out of the two sports, XC is my favorite because even though each individual is running for the medal in the end, I used running as a stress reliever and enjoy celebrating in the end with my running family no matter how good or bad we did. We all cheer on our team mates and watch everyone have fun.

AVID Community Service
For our community service project we repainted the football bleachers because they were old, faded, and peeling. WE decided it was something the community would agree with and appreciate. About 10 of us showed up and it was more than 100 degrees outside at the time and some left early. We stayed until we ran our of paint and continued it another day. It may have been a small change, but small changes always help in big ways.

California Scholarship Federation
Ever since the second semester of my sophomore year I hoped that I was able to qualify for CSF because I joined anything that would help me financially with college. Unfortunately, I did not get in until my first semester in junior year, but at least I got in on time. This club also inspires me to have the best grades I possibly can. |
Rural Education for Americans Project
I applied for REAP my freshman year and it has really benefitted me because it's motivating me to 3.5's and 4's on both my grades and life skills. Every year I continue trying to get the best grades I can so that I'll be able to receive that money for college and for school overall. |
